Most people who know me call me Boog. I've always tried to be the person who helps others and handles whatever life puts in front of me. But after what happened on September 10, 2026, I'm realizing that this is one of those times when I need help too.

I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in San Diego and was rushed to the hospital. My left femur was shattered in eight different places, requiring major surgery. Doctors placed a large metal rod, approximately 14 inches long, inside my leg to repair the damage.

I also suffered significant road rash, but my hospital stay became even more complicated.

After surgery, I began having extreme difficulty breathing. I knew something wasn't right and kept asking doctors to investigate further. They eventually discovered a serious issue in my stomach that required another operation. Surgeons had to open my abdomen, and I came home with approximately 30 staples down my stomach.

I spent about a week in the hospital, and recovery has been exhausting both physically and emotionally.

I'm also a United States Navy veteran who completed two overseas deployments to the Middle East. Serving my country is something I'll always be proud of, but today I'm facing a very different kind of battle—trying to heal and regain my independence.

Through everything, my greatest support has been my wife, Valerie. We've been married for nearly 22 years and have two children, a 20-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son. They're my world and the reason I keep pushing forward.

I've always been more comfortable being the first person to help and the last person to ask for help. Starting this campaign isn't easy for me.
