Hi, my name is Kalyia Cross, and I never imagined I would be writing something like this.

On Friday February 13, 2026, on my motorcycle I was riding straight down a 45 Road in Oklahoma, when another vehicle suddenly crossed into my lane from the opposite direction. I didn’t have time to brake. The crash was head-on, and in seconds, everything changed.

I suffered a fractured left ankle making it hard to walk and a head injury partnerd with a mild concussion and have been dealing with migraines and slight memory loss since the impact. There are moments where I struggle to remember things clearly, which has honestly been one of the scariest parts. The doctors have made it clear that I need time to rest and heal.

Right now, I can’t work.

Before this accident, I was working three jobs in a warehouse, at a boba shop, and helping set up concerts. I’ve always pushed myself hard. I was juggling long shifts while studying another language, training in boxing, riding my bike, and saving toward big goals like studying abroad In Japan and building a more stable future for myself. It wasn’t easy, but I was proud of how hard I worked.

Now everything has paused.

I’m stuck in bed, unable to move the way I’m used to, unable to train, unable to work, and watching the momentum I built start to slip away. The financial loss isn’t just about bills it’s about falling behind on goals I’ve sacrificed a lot for. I’ve worked tirelessly day in and day out to build something better for myself, and suddenly I feel further back than where I started.

It’s honestly hard for me to ask for help. I’m used to figuring things out on my own and pushing through. But right now, I truly need support so I can focus on healing physically and mentally without the constant stress of how I’m going to cover medical expenses, and basic living costs while I recover.
