My name is Paul Smith, and I’m a retired Army veteran who never expected to be in a situation like this.

Recently, I was involved in a motorcycle accident that could have taken my life.

A driver made an illegal U-turn and cut directly in front of me, failing to yield the right of way. I had no time to react. I was thrown from my motorcycle and landed hard on my left side.

An ambulance transported me to the hospital, where I was treated for serious injuries.

I’ve been diagnosed with three fractured discs in my spine — L1, L2, and L3. I was discharged, but I now have to follow up with an orthopedic surgeon as I begin the recovery process.

Right now, I’m dealing with mobility issues and have a hard time doing simple things like walking up and down stairs.

I consider myself blessed, because I know my injuries could have been so much worse.

There’s a quote I hold onto during times like this:
“When God says He has a purpose for you and your life.”

I truly believe that.

I know I still have so much to offer in this life, and I’m determined to keep moving forward — one step at a time.

I’m also a proud member of the Slow Motionz MC, where I’ve found community and joy riding alongside others who share the same passion.

But right now, things are difficult.

As a result of this accident, I’m facing challenges with everyday living, and I’m asking for help to cover living expenses while I focus on healing.

It’s not easy for me to ask, but I know I can’t do this alone.
