My name is William Goodwin, and I never imagined I would be writing something like this from a hospital bed. 

Last Thursday, January 8, 2026, my life changed in an instant. I was riding my Harley-Davidson motorcycle in Fairhope, Alabama, when a car suddenly pulled out of a parking lot and stopped in the highway directly in front of me. I was traveling about 50–55 mph and had no time to react. I collided with the vehicle and was severely injured.

Because of the impact, I had to be life-flighted to the hospital, where I am still admitted today. The injuries were serious — I suffered multiple fractures to my pelvis and a fracture to my left hip. The day after the accident, I underwent major surgery to reset my pelvis and hip. It’s been overwhelming, painful, and honestly scary.

Doctors have told me I will be out of work for 10 to 12 weeks, and possibly longer depending on how my recovery goes. Right now, my focus needs to be on healing, but the reality is that bills don’t stop just because life does. Between medical expenses, rent, utilities, food, and everyday living costs, the financial stress is already adding up.

I’ve always tried to give back when I can. I volunteer at the Styx River MX & ATV Park, helping support a community I care deeply about. I never expected to be the one asking for help, but right now I truly need it.

This fundraiser is to help cover my medical and hospital bills, recovery and rehabilitation costs, and everyday living expenses while I’m unable to work.
