Hello friends.

I am writing this on behalf of my husband Tim Anderson as he is currently stuck in a hospital bed with limited mobility after a motorcycle accident.

He was on his way up to Mille Lacs to spend the weekend with his parents when I received one of those calls that everyone dreads. It was Tim on the other end telling me that he had been hit by a car while riding and was being airlifted to a hospital. He told me that he was pretty banged up, but alive and I heard the paramedic say his helmet probably saved his life. The next couple hours were a blur of anxiety while I called his mom to tell her what happened and waited to find out the extent of his injuries and when I could see him.  I later learned that he had been hit on his right side, while traveling down the highway, by a driver that failed to stop at a stop sign. It was daylight, he had the right of way and there was nothing he could do to prevent this accident.

Tim was assessed and treated by fantastic staff at a major trauma hospital in the twin cities. His initial injuries were a shattered right ankle, foot and lower leg, a fractured scapula, broken toes on both feet, and significant road rash across his back and arms. He has already undergone two surgeries, one to stabilize his ankle while we wait for the swelling to go down and another to repair the breaks in his shoulder blade. The plan had been for him to discharge home while awaiting the second surgery for his ankle and leg but yesterday, doctors discovered another fracture in his left knee which had been the "good" knee. Now they are unsure if he can put any weight on either leg. If he cannot, he will not be able to go home.

He has a long road of recovery ahead of him, but he is trying to stay positive. He has made it his goal while in the hospital to be the favorite patient and so far, the nurses seem to appreciate this.

For those of you that know Tim, you know that he spent 8 years as a United States Marine and was deployed to Iraq. Most recently, he has been working as an Inventory Control Specialist and has enjoyed this work and especially the people that he works with. With these injuries, he is facing a significant time away from work to recover and the loss of this income is creating financial stress for both of us while we should be focusing on his recovery. Both of us struggle with asking for this kind of help, but in this case, we are not sure what else to do.

Any funds raised will help with everyday living expenses while Tim recovers and works on getting back on his feet.

If you are able to donate, share this story, or keep Tim in your thoughts we would be so grateful.

Thank you for your kindness, support, and generosity during this challenging time.

    Hello Friends,

First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who has donated and shared our campaign and also those who have reached out with well wishes. The generosity of everyone has been inspiring and we are truly grateful to have such fantastic support network.

When we first launched this fundraiser, there were still a lot of unknowns, so I’d like to provide a brief update on where we are at exactly a month after the accident. Tim has been unable to return home due to his injuries and was forced to discharge to a Transitional Care Unit (TCU) to wait until the swelling went down in his right leg, enough to have surgery. The time for surgery finally came on Monday, July 20th. He was admitted to the Hospital again and after two surgeries and four days, he has now returned again to the TCU. The surgery went as well as it could, but he now has four metal plates in his ankle and a very high chance of developing arthritis.  The surgeon described this as a “life changing” injury as that ankle will never quite be the same. We are hopeful for a good recovery, but it will be a long road.  He will be unable to weigh bare on his right leg for at least 12 weeks and still has mobility restrictions on his left leg due to a fracture and his left shoulder due to the break.  While at the TCU, Tim will be working closely with Physical Therapy to learn how to move around safely with his mobility restrictions. His main goal is to be able to return home to finish his recovery there where he his most comfortable and where is able to see his pets who miss him terribly.

Again, thank you so much for your generosity. Your donations will go towards living expenses and will allow Tim to focus on his recovery, which is the most important thing right now.
