I never imagined I would be writing a story like this about my son, Sid. 

I was woken up by a phone call telling me that Sid had been in a serious accident and was being rushed to the hospital. I immediately left and rushed to be by his side.

When I arrived at the emergency room, I found Sid surrounded by the incredible ER team doing everything they could to care for him. It was one of the scariest moments of my life, and something I will never forget.

As if the accident itself wasn't frightening enough, Sid suffered a seizure shortly after arriving at the emergency room. Seeing him kicking his feet while the doctors and nurses worked to stabilize him is an image that will stay with me forever.

We are so incredibly grateful because it could have been so much worse.

Sid was riding his dirt ebike when a vehicle pulled out in front of him, causing the collision. He suffered a head injury, a concussion, injuries to his left arm and left thumb, and will need ongoing follow up care with both a neurologist and an orthopedic specialist.

As his dad, I couldn't be prouder of the young man he has become. Sid is an amazing son, a great kid, and one of the most polite and respectful people you'll ever meet. He loves animals, and not a day goes by without him telling me, "I love you, Dad." Those simple words mean even more now than they ever have before.

Sid works as a line cook at Mojo BBQ, where he loves the people he works with and the customers he serves. He has always been the first to help others and the last person to ask for help himself.

Today, though, he needs that help.
