My name is Jeanette and on the night of August 7th, 2025, what should have been a quick ride to the store turned into a moment that forever changed my son, Scott Rickard’s life. Riding his 1998 Honda Shadow, he suddenly encountered headlights in his lane. He swerved to avoid a more serious collision, but the vehicle clipped his foot.

Scott was air-flighted to Plano City Medical, where doctors quickly stabilized him and performed x-rays. At first, reconstructive surgery was considered, but the surgeon explained the outcome would leave him with little function. On August 9th, just two days later, Scott underwent a below-the-knee amputation. He remained in the hospital until the 12th and was released with crutches. Thankfully, doctors believe he can be fitted with a prosthetic leg in about three months.

For nearly 30 years, Scott has been a dedicated metal fabricator, building structures with skill and pride. Tragically, he had only been at his most recent job for a week before this accident, and now he faces the reality that he cannot continue in that line of work. This is especially heartbreaking because just last year Scott survived another major accident that left his arm with lasting injuries.

Scott has always loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, hiking, and shooting pool—all of which he is unable to do right now. It is very difficult for Scott to ask for financial help, as he has always worked hard to provide for himself. But right now he is in a very hard place in life, and he truly needs support.

Most of all, Scott’s two sons, Matthew and Logan, along with Logan’s girlfriend, Emma, mean the world to him. They have been by his side, encouraging him and helping however they can. This accident has deeply impacted not just Scott, but all of us who love him.

I am asking, from a mother’s heart, for any help you can give toward his medical needs, a prosthetic, and living expenses while he heals and rebuilds.
