My name is Jillian, and I’m writing on behalf of my roommate and one of my closest friends, Sasha Whitman.

I’ve lived with Sasha long enough to know who she is when no one else is watching.

She’s the person whose phone rings at all hours because someone needs encouragement. She’s the person who opens the front door without hesitation when someone just needs a safe place to sit, talk, and remember they’re not alone. Whether someone is struggling with sobriety, facing a personal crisis, or simply having one of the hardest days of their life, Sasha has an incredible gift for making people feel seen, valued, and hopeful again.

What impresses me most isn’t what she says—it’s how she lives.

I’ve never heard her gossip about someone. I’ve never watched her tear another person down. If negativity reaches Sasha, that’s where it stops. She chooses compassion over criticism and encouragement over judgment every single time. I’ve quietly watched her stand beside people others had overlooked or written off, asking for nothing in return and never seeking recognition for it.

That’s simply who she is.

On June 15, Sasha’s life changed in an instant when she was involved in a motorcycle accident. She suffered injuries to her wrist and shoulder. Her motorcycle—her primary means of transportation—was badly damaged, creating challenges that extended far beyond the accident itself.

Like so many hardworking people, Sasha couldn’t afford to stop. Even while dealing with pain, medical appointments, and uncertainty, she returned to work because responsibilities don’t pause when life becomes difficult. She still needs additional medical care for her injuries, along with dental treatment resulting from the accident.

Sasha is a hairstylist, but to call her clients “customers” wouldn’t be accurate. She lovingly refers to them as her hair family because she genuinely cares about every person who sits in her chair. She listens, encourages, laughs, cries, and celebrates life’s milestones alongside them. For many people, their appointment with Sasha is about far more than getting their hair done.

Above everything else, Sasha is the proud mother of two amazing daughters, Dallas and Tyler-Jo. Everything she does is motivated by her desire to provide for them and to set an example of resilience, kindness, and compassion.

Anyone who truly knows Sasha also knows one more thing: asking for help is completely outside of her comfort zone. She has always been the one showing up for everyone else.

This campaign isn’t about rescuing someone who has given up. It’s about standing beside someone who has spent years standing beside others.
