I honestly can’t believe I’m writing this or asking for help.

The worst feeling in the world is seeing your husband involved in a serious accident, especially when it happens right in front of you.

The accident happened this past Sunday, April 26, and Eric is truly lucky to be alive.

Eric and I were riding together when it happened. He was ahead of me on his motorcycle, and I was following behind on mine. A driver in a truck came speeding into the lane and struck Eric’s bike, hitting his saddlebag and forcing him across the road. I watched it happen, and it’s something I will never forget.

Eric was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he remains in the ICU.

He suffered 7 broken ribs, with 4 of them broken twice, along with a fractured right scapula and shoulder blade, and a punctured lung. He also has severe road rash, mostly on his right side and back. The injuries are especially difficult because they are on his right side, and Eric is right-handed.

Eric is a forklift operator who truly loves his job and the people he works with. He is one of the most loving, hardworking, and honest people I know. He’s the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone, and he has so many friends and people in his life that he genuinely cares about.

Eric has been riding motorcycles for over 40 years, and riding is something our family truly loves. It’s part of who we are. I had just gotten a new bike, and we were simply enjoying something we’ve always shared together.

We are supposed to be celebrating our 9-year wedding anniversary on April 29th, but instead, we are facing one of the hardest moments of our lives.

This is not something we ever imagined asking for, but we now need help with medical expenses and everyday living costs as Eric begins what will be a long road to recovery.
