Hi everyone,

My name is Jose Luis Aguilar, and I’m writing this while sitting beside my brother Miguel Aguilar’s hospital bed. I never imagined I would have to share something like this.

On March 1, 2026, Miguel was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in California. The crash left him with multiple severe injuries, and he is currently still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) fighting through the early stages of recovery.

Miguel doesn’t remember the accident itself. He lost consciousness during the crash and later woke up in the hospital surrounded by doctors and machines. What we do know is that he was attempting to take an exit ramp when the crash occurred. There may have been loose gravel on the road, or it’s possible another vehicle was involved, but because of the memory loss caused by the accident, the exact cause is still unclear.

What we do know is how badly he was hurt.

Miguel suffered a collapsed lung, multiple broken ribs, a broken left arm, fractured vertebrae in his back, severe ligament and tendon damage in his hand, and a neck hematoma. Doctors are continuing to monitor him closely while treating these injuries, and they have told us that his hospitalization and recovery will likely take a long time.

Miguel has always been someone who works hard and helps others. He works as a government contractor for NDTI, and he truly loves his job. Unfortunately, because of the seriousness of his injuries, he will not be able to work for quite some time.

But Miguel’s greatest pride and joy in life are his two young children.

Miguel is a devoted father who shares 50% custody of his daughter, who is 6, and his son, who is 4. They mean everything to him, and he works incredibly hard to provide for them and be present in their lives.

Outside of work and being a dad, Miguel also gives back to his community. He volunteers his time at the Boys and Girls Club on 7th Street in Oxnard, helping mentor and support kids in the neighborhood.

Right now, our family’s focus is on helping Miguel heal. But the reality is that this accident has created significant financial challenges. Between the medical bills, daily living expenses, and the income he will lose while he recovers, the road ahead will be difficult.
