My name is Crystal Kennedy, and this past Tuesday, February 10th, my loving husband Matthew Kennedy, also known as “Matty” and “Key Fob,” while on his way to work was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident that has turned our world upside down.

Matty’s injuries are extensive and severe. He suffered internal bleeding from a broken rib, a dislocated and fractured left shoulder socket, a dislocated hip, a compound fracture of the fibula and tibia in his lower left leg, multiple pelvic fractures, and a dislocated femur that was broken in two places requiring two rods and multiple screws. His first surgery was performed yesterday on his left leg, and today he is undergoing surgery on his hip. There is a long and difficult road of recovery ahead.

Just months before this accident, we had moved to Florida from Georgia full of hope and purpose. Matty had just started working at Lowes a couple of weeks ago, excited about this new beginning. A major reason for our move was to become more actively involved in Forgotten Angels (Tampa Florida), an organization dedicated to supporting young people who age out of the foster care system. Each year, more than 20,000 youth age out of state care, and many face homelessness, unemployment, trauma, and overwhelming challenges transitioning into adulthood. Matty has always had a heart for helping those who feel forgotten, and this mission meant everything to us.

Matty is also a proud father to our two beautiful 19-year-old twins, Gabby and Jaiden. He adores his twins and has always been their biggest supporter and protector. Together, we have built a YouTube following centered on positivity, uplift, and self-love. We believe in encouraging others to stay strong through life’s storms. Now we are living through one of our own.

It is incredibly difficult for me to ask for help. I truly feel uncomfortable even writing this because it feels like begging. But Matty will not be able to work for some time, and as we face months of recovery, we will need support for our upcoming living expenses while he focuses on healing.
