My name is Phina Avello, and I’m writing this for my husband, Mark. On August 12, 2025, life took an unexpected turn. Just three weeks after finally getting his dream bike, a Ninja ZX-4RR, Mark was struck by a truck in an intersection. The impact T-boned him, throwing him into the air before he landed hard.

Mark was rushed to AdventHealth in Orlando, where doctors treated him for back and neck injuries that aggravated older disc issues. He also suffered a bruised kidney and painful road rash on his back, shoulder, and arm. The physical pain has been overwhelming, but so has the emotional toll—especially since Mark has already fought through so much in the past.

Thirteen years ago, he suffered a severe concussion during a brawl that left him with brain trauma. It took years of determination for him to recover and finally get back into the workforce. Recently, he was able to find a job in motorcycle and powersport sales, which brought us some much-needed stability after years of hardship.

Although this accident forced him to miss two days of work, Mark has since been able to return. Still, the medical bills are piling up, his bike has thousands of dollars in damages, and the time he lost has added financial strain we weren’t prepared for. As a labor and delivery nurse, I am doing all I can to hold us together, but the pressure on just one steady income is overwhelming.

It is not easy for us to ask for help—we’ve always tried to handle life’s struggles on our own—but this time we simply cannot do it alone. We are in a very difficult place and truly need support to get through this. Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to healing and stability.
