I can't believe I'm sitting here writing this story and asking people for help. On August 26, 2026, my life changed in a matter of seconds when I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident.
I was riding in the far-right lane when a vehicle traveling in the lane beside me turned across my path toward a parking lot. I didn't have enough time to avoid the vehicle, and we collided. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital, and what followed has been a painful and difficult experience that I never expected to be going through.
I suffered a fractured tibia, fractured toe, concussion, and severe bruising throughout my body, including my leg, right shoulder blade, arm, head, and the area around my hip and groin. I currently can't put any weight on my injured leg. Things I used to do without even thinking about them have suddenly become a challenge.
I've been told that I'll likely be unable to work for at least 12 weeks, and possibly longer depending on how my recovery progresses. That's frightening because I've always been someone who works hard and takes pride in providing for myself and the people I love.
I work as a pest control technician, and I genuinely love what I do. I love the people I work alongside and the clients I have the opportunity to serve. My job requires me to be mobile and physically capable, so with an injured leg that I can't put any weight on, working simply isn't possible right now. Twelve weeks or more without being able to earn my normal income is a long time, especially when medical bills and everyday expenses don't stop just because you've been hurt.
Thankfully, I haven't been going through this alone.
The love of my life is my girlfriend, Clarisa, and I can't say enough about what she has done for me since this accident. She has been unbelievable—helping me with the things I can't do for myself, taking care of me, and standing beside me through the pain and uncertainty. Having her by my side has made an incredibly difficult situation easier to face.
Clarisa and I share our home with our two loving dogs, and right now, home is where I'm going to be spending a lot of my time. Instead of getting up every morning, going to work, and living my normal life, my days are now centered around managing the pain, protecting my injured leg, and doing everything I can to heal.
I know recovery won't happen overnight. Being unable to put weight on my leg and knowing I could be away from work for three months or longer is overwhelming. I want nothing more than to heal, regain my mobility, and get back to the job and life I had before this accident.
Asking others for financial help isn't easy, but the reality is that being unable to work for this long creates a financial burden that is difficult to handle alone. That's why I'm starting this HelpVy campaign. The funds raised will help with my medical expenses and everyday living expenses while I'm unable to work and recovering from my injuries.
If you're able to donate, Clarisa and I would be incredibly grateful. If donating isn't possible, sharing my story with others would mean just as much to us.
This accident may have temporarily taken away my ability to work and move around the way I used to, but I'm determined to put in the work necessary to recover and get back on my feet.
Thank you for standing beside Clarisa and me during the road ahead.
