Hi everyone, my name is Sarah Kukert, and I am writing this story for my boyfriend, Joshua Rios.

On July 10, 2026, I received one of the worst phone calls of my life that Josh had been involved in a devastating motorcycle accident. My heart sank. All I could think about was getting to him. Today, I thank God that he survived because, with his injuries, this could have been so much worse.

Josh was rushed by ambulance to the hospital with two tourniquets, one per leg, as well as blood fusion, where he remains today. Doctors expect he will be hospitalized for at least another couple of weeks as he continues to recover from his extensive injuries.

Josh has endured an unimaginable amount of trauma. He has suffered three fractures in his left leg, a broken left ankle, shattered left knee, a shattered right knee, a pelvis split by 8.5 millimeters that also affected the adjacent vertebra, a broken left index finger, fractures in two places in his right arm, a broken right wrist, three fractured ribs, and a broken nose. To date, he has already undergone seven surgeries, and doctors believe additional surgeries may still be necessary. His road to recovery will be long and challenging.

As heartbreaking as the accident has been, Josh shared something with me that puts everything into perspective. Just before leaving on his motorcycle that day, he thought about taking his daughter for a ride with him. At the last moment, he decided not to. Looking back now, we are incredibly thankful for that decision.

The motorcycle itself also carried deep sentimental value. Josh inherited it after losing his mother last August. Losing the motorcycle in the accident has been another painful reminder of that loss and something that can never truly be replaced.

Anyone who knows Josh knows he is a remarkable man, a loving partner, a devoted father, and one of the hardest-working people you'll ever meet, quite stubborn at times, but he always gets the job done. Together, we are blessed with four amazing children, who are our greatest joy and the reason Josh is fighting so hard to recover.

Before the accident, Josh worked as a Low Voltage Technician, installing and servicing security systems. He took great pride in his work and in providing for our family. With such severe injuries, he will be unable to return to work for quite some time, creating a tremendous financial burden.

Josh has always been the kind of person who would rather help someone else than ask for help himself. Today, I'm asking on his behalf.

The funds raised will help with everyday living expenses while Josh focuses on healing and the long journey back to his family.
