On September 17, 2026, I had just finished work and was heading home when I was involved in a serious accident that changed my life in an instant.

I was taken by ambulance to the hospital with a severely dislocated left knee. Doctors discovered that blood was no longer reaching my foot, putting me at risk of losing it entirely. I needed emergency vascular surgery, during which surgeons took a vein from my healthy right leg and used it to create a bypass in my injured left leg to restore blood flow.

I'm incredibly grateful they were able to save my foot, but my recovery is only beginning.

I've already undergone additional surgery and currently have an external fixator on my leg. I also have significant wounds that doctors are still working to close. More procedures may be ahead, including possible skin grafting, nerve surgery, plastic surgery, and reconstructive surgery. Doctors have told me the external fixator alone may remain in place for six to eight weeks.

I'm still in the hospital, with another surgery scheduled, and I don't yet know when I'll be able to go home.

Before the accident, I worked as a commercial wireman and warehouse driver for Davies Electric in Miramar, California. I was approaching my fifth anniversary there in October, and I can genuinely say it's the best company I've ever worked for. I love my job and the people I work with, and getting back to them is one of my biggest goals.

I'm 26 years old and the third of 10 siblings. I've always tried to look after my younger brothers and sisters, helping with things like school supplies, shoes, food, and groceries whenever I can. My longtime girlfriend, Silvia, has been by my side for four years, and our dog, Guero, is part of our little family too. Silvia, Guero, and my brothers and sisters mean everything to me.

I've always tried to be the person who helps others. Now, I'm the one who needs some help.
