My name is Gary Roberts, and I never imagined I would find myself needing to ask for help like this.

I have been riding motorcycles for over 20 years, and riding has always been something I truly enjoy. A few days ago, I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident when another driver suddenly pulled into my lane directly in front of me. I slammed on my brakes trying to avoid a collision, lost control of my motorcycle, and was thrown from the bike.

I was taken to the hospital, where I underwent a CT scan and multiple X rays. Doctors found a broken bone in my right foot along with multiple fractures, and there is still a strong possibility that I may require surgery on my foot. Since the accident, I have been having significant difficulty with walking and getting around normally.

I work hard as a heavy duty operator and am a proud member of Union Local 12. Providing for my family has always been important to me. I have two wonderful children who mean everything to me, and being unable to work right now has been extremely stressful. I am also currently going through a divorce, which has made this difficult situation even harder financially and emotionally.

Anyone who knows me knows I am usually the first one to help others, but I have never been comfortable asking for help myself.

As a result of my injuries, I will be off work for a while, and I am asking for help with medical bills and everyday living expenses while I recover.
