My name is Samantha Phillips, and I am organizing this campaign for my fiancé, Dusty Long.

On September 28, 2026, Dusty was on his way to work early in the morning when he was involved in a serious accident. He was only about ten minutes from work when our lives suddenly changed.

I found out about the accident through one of Dusty’s close friend at work. I rushed to the hospital and arrived just as the ambulance was bringing him in.

Seeing him like that was something I will never forget.

Dusty suffered devastating injuries, including a broken left femur, a broken patella, a shattered foot, an open dislocation of his knee with extensive ligament damage, a fracture near his right knee, and a broken left hand. Doctors have talked about rebuilding his foot and performing fixation on his knee as part of the extensive treatment he may need.

When Dusty first arrived at the hospital, he had a breathing tube in place. He is still hospitalized, and we know he has a very long road ahead of him.

Before the accident, Dusty worked as a warehouse associate at HutShops LLC, where he has been for 5 years. He enjoys his job and has formed real friendships with the people he works with, spending time with some of them even outside of work.

Dusty and I both contribute financially to our household. Since the accident, I have also been unable to work because I have been focused on staying with him and making sure he is stable and cared for.

At home, our cat, Grasshopper, is waiting for him too. She already knows something is different and has been missing him.

We are incredibly thankful for the family, friends, coworkers, and everyone who has been praying for Dusty and offering to help us through this.

Funds raised through HelpVy will help with Dusty’s medical and everyday living expenses while he remains unable to work and begins the long process of healing.
