On September 16, 2026, I was on my way to work in Richfield, Utah when I was involved in a serious accident that changed my life in a matter of seconds.

I suffered a broken right femur and lost consciousness. I was transported to the hospital, where doctors performed surgery to repair my leg. They placed a rod and three screws into my femur to stabilize the fracture.

Thankfully, I was wearing a helmet. I am incredibly grateful that it protected me and that I did not suffer a serious brain injury.

I spent several days in the hospital before being released home. I am now using crutches and cannot walk normally on my injured leg. Even basic daily activities have become difficult while my body heals.

Before the accident, I worked as a mental health specialist at Monroe Elementary and Salina Elementary Schools. I love my job, the people I work with, and most importantly, the children I have the opportunity to help.

Working with students is something that means a great deal to me, and one of my biggest goals is being healthy enough to return to the schools and the work I care about.

Right now, I do not know exactly when my doctors will clear me to return.

I am also an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in Richfield, and my faith and church community are important parts of my life.

Being unable to work while recovering from a major leg injury has created financial uncertainty at the same time that medical expenses are beginning to add up.

Funds raised through HelpVy will help with my medical and everyday living expenses while I continue healing, regain my mobility, and work toward returning to the students and job that mean so much to me.
