Hi my name is Kristen Thomas and along with my husband Evan, we are asking for financial help for our son Bryce and his wife Brianna. 

On Friday, July 18, 2025, what should have been a peaceful ride home from a local Harley dealership turned into a life-altering moment for my daughter-in-law, Brianna Thomas. She was riding her 2022 Harley Davidson Sportster, with my son Bryce following behind, when a vehicle suddenly pulled out. As Brianna stopped to turn, the collision happened in an instant.

Bryce, her husband, a Port St. Lucie Police Officer and an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran—called 911 and stayed by her side, trying to comfort her as he realized the severity of her injuries. Brianna was rushed by ground ambulance to a Life Flight landing site, then airlifted to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Florida.

At the trauma unit, doctors discovered multiple compound fractures, including two broken wrists, a broken right arm, a broken right leg, a shattered pelvis, and a broken sternum. Three of her limbs were splinted until she could undergo her first surgery early the next morning, which involved placing rods in her right arm, leg, and pelvis. She’s since had multiple surgeries on July 21 and 23—with many more to come.

Brianna spent three days in the ICU and is now in the neurotrauma care unit. She will be bedbound for at least 6 weeks with a catheter and faces months of in-hospital rehab to relearn how to walk.

A hospital social worker recently estimated $12,000 in medical equipment costs for when she’s discharged—just to meet her basic needs at home. These are life changing injuries. 

Brianna had recently become a full-time stay-at-home mom. Although she loved her job as a clinic technician, she was excited to dedicate her days to Bailey (7) and Blake (4)—because they’re only little once. Days that should have been filled with soccer and cheerleading for Bailey and Football for Blake , look very different 

As her mother-in-law, I’ve witnessed the strength it takes to hold this together. My husband Evan is currently out of state for work and unable to return home, offering his full support through phone calls, texts, and video chats—it’s been incredibly difficult for him to be so far away. I’ve been traveling in every other day from Lake Worth, Florida (a two-hour drive), and Bryce’s grandparents in Harmony—three hours away—have opened their home to care for their great-grandchildren in their home.

Brianna’s sister-in-law Daniela, her brother Mike, Aunt Joyce, and Grandma Joyce have also been around her and supportive—and Brianna is truly grateful.
